Hi all,
I'm new to this site and hoping someone can point me in the right direction with a problem my wife is having with her 2000 206 1.4 petrol, at times the engine revs rise by itself and the car accelerates without touching the throttle, after this happens if you put your foot on the accelerator the engine "bogs down" and will not rev. This only happens for a few seconds and then it clears and the car drives fine, It happens weather the car is cold or hot and only seems to happen when the fuel level drops below a 1/4 tank or you park the car uphill. I'm assuming that it's a fuel problem of some sort.

Also i have a diagnostic program for my Alfa Romeo (alfadiag) that i downloaded from the internet, is there anything like that available for the 206?

Thanks in advance for any help

Mick

The fuel guage on the 206 is s**te and very inaccurate. I'd always fill it up when it hits 1/4 of a tank.

Possible fuel pump problem. Clean the idle control valve as well, as the rising revs might be related to that.

If the ICV needs replacing, this is a symptom.
