problem started a few weeks ago. The car when stopping at traffic lights for instance would just lose power and die. Once this has happened it takes up to ten minutes before it will let you start it again. Once it does start it shoots out tones of black smoke and sounds like its missfireing. Parts that have been changed is a full service. Map sensor and coil pack none have solved the problem. It managed to work correctly for a few days after above have been changed. Today on the way to the shop it died twice so ended up just coming home. Box suggestions or anyone in the area that could come have a gander?

My car also loses power at a stop sometimes, 1 time it done it every corner i went around on the way to work which is less than a mile away, once i got to work, i phoned rac up, they came out and told them about it and he told me it was the idle control sensor/valve, he cleaned it and it works okay now, get the occasional issue, but advised me to get a new one. just haven't got round to getting one.Seems similar to mine, might not be the same issue tho.
my car sometimes idles at above 2,000 too.

sounds like an overfuelling issue to me and i would start at the coolant temp sensor. The car hasnt done that many miles has it? Have you thrashed the b******s off it to give it a good clear out?Low miles on an older car smacks of it being coked up aswell.
