first off you need to check if the fan works ( 12v directly to the fans power plug. )
if this spins the fan, the problem is elsewhere, you need to check the wiring around the relays for rot, and check to see if both fan relays work too.

mines got a similar problem but havent had time to sort it yet, however im lucky becouse my temp rarely goes anywhere near 80 , even on a hot day.

fan should kick in around 20 seconds after you press the aircon button.
you should hear the relay click the moment you press the button.
( this should happen even if it needs regassing too )

how much did he charge you ?
... and obviously he hadnt checked the work after completion, otherwise he would have known its not working.

The fan should kick in at about 95 degrees. I wouldnt worry to much on a HDi, they dont run as hot as a petrol engine anyway. Sounds like your mechanic fould the problem anyway, a common fault.

... so the fan for the aircon is working then ?
as i said in my last post , the fan for the aircon should still work within around 20 seconds, if its not , isnt there still a problem ?
