I've just had all 16 changed in my 2.0l, coupled with an oil flush and change. My question is; do they have a bedding in time or should they be 100% straight away?

The car is running a lot better but it's not silent until the oil temp has got up.

Just a bit concerned after the expense of having to get them changed

Probably need approx 100 miles to fully settle down properly, its important to use the correct grade/quality of oil in engines fitted with h/tappets.
1.4 hdi, 206, Year..2003, 100,000 miles

Mercedes, ML270CDI, 2002, 200,000 miles

Do not idle as in, start up and drive so the engine oil is flowing through and warm?

I managed to get all 16 genuine pug tappets for 160quid and labour only cost 180 in the end. So for a job which I was told was anywhere from £400-600 or £900 at a dealer. I think £340 including the oil flush and change wasn't to bad. (of course 5W40 fully synth was used)

Certainly a lot better from a cold start up even though I don't think they are 100% settled.

We'll I heard off someone on here that they could possibly be bought for under 18 quid each from a pug dealer at trade price.

A set of 16 brand new genuine ones came up on ebay on a parts dealers shop. They were up for £17.99 each buy it now so I started watching.
Then my missus saw the best offer option and put in a jokey offer of £10 each which to our amazement was accepted. Must admit, it did cost £7 postage so £167 all in. But I was happy. They turned up within 48hours in the genuine little pug/Citroen bags with original invoice slip. The garage that did the work couldn't believe they were gen until I took them over to them Laughing

Having already had the excellent labour quote I was well chuffed as you could imagine. I small win considering how mush the car has cost me this year but still a win.

Thanks for that!! lol. I checked, re checked and checked again. They were 1.8 ones recommended to avoid similar problems re ocouring.

yes. because when idling, the oil pressure is minimium, it might not lube up the tapplet well which might cause premature wearing

New hydraulic tappet part number is 0942 48 as Mr BSI posted on my other thread, so deffo right ones fitted.

Is that trade price? Like I said someone on here mentioned I may be able get them a lot less through them at trade.

Edward, Yep they came in the little tubs inside the bags just as pictured. All pre oiled.

Seabrook I'll happy look up the old link but he only had 16 available and I had em Laughing

Sound like I had more than a bit of luck getting these for that price.
