hi,
im in the need of a new battery as the car is struggling to start. Ive read a varta battery is the way to go. Which one do i need...56ah, 60ah, 61ah, or 63ah.

The car is a 2:0 hdi

Varta D15 Silver Dynamic is the one you want.

Look out for the Bosch equivalent if its cheaper.

Varta make the batteries for Bosch so there exactly the same under the stickers Wink

why over kill?

diesel need more power to start the engine compare to petrol.

i use the same battery as well (bosch S5)

glow plugs don't normally kick in unless very cold (negative degree or close to zero)

is just it need more cranking power due to higher engine compression

Ah OK, we only have taxis over here which are diesel.
Not allowed for passenger cars at all, so not much experience on that.

Still think its a bit of an overkill for a 206 TBH.

pretty sure during winter uk should be quite a bit colder than Athens?

and you don't have a diesel anyway

short journey and cold weather=battery killer.

diesel already quite hard to start in winter even with good glow plug, longer cranking time+weak battery = Laughing

Up north where I go it gets quite chilly believe me (-10 C no problem).
Summer in Athens = 40+ C easy.

Since its a diesel though and a 2.0 Hdi at that, you might well be right so I'll let it lie. Razz

I use a big capacitor. It's 330,000 farads and I custom made the charging circuit. Cost a pretty penny, mind you!

Are you sure its not 330000μF?

what i have been remember is last winter many diesel runner on info are struggle to start their car Laughing Laughing a few threads per week! Laughing
