The car is running on 17 inch wheels and has done for 3 years plus without a problem until recently.
The tyre profile is very thin so makes very little difference to the diameter of the tyre but the width is 205
I have my own tracking gauge and took it to a local garage for 4 wheel alignment just to be sure so I'm happy that it's not the tracking although it does improve on toe out.

This was 3 months old & was from Euro Car Parts £45!!
The movement was frightening, when compared to the new Pug One.
Buy Genuine Pug, it save buying twice!!

I've changed the pinch bolts but no improvement. Gone over the joints bushes sub frame bolts again with a 4 foot pich bar can't find the problem. I've even had the handbrake aplied and had someone to try and move the car forward and back to see if there is any play in the wheel or bushes but can't find any play there. the car is back up on the ramp and gearbox will come off tomorrow
cheers

Kev, ours went for MOT & i did the same with a bar. Until I took the wishbone out I couldn't tell the damage was that bad. The bush on the one fitted I could twist with a bolt, the new one was solid & wouldn't budge. Hope its not the box. Good Luck!

Hi
I've ordered a new wishbone and taken the other one out. The one removed looks good only about 3 mnths old but I thought I'd give this a go as a last ditched attempt before tackling the gearbox as I'm still not 100% convinced it is the box but getting desparate for any other options.

Pleased to say that as a last resort I changed the 3 month old wishbone before going for the gear box and it worked.
Tracking is set fine and no wander / pulling with the steering.
Problem is solved and am I glad I didn't change the gearbox I can just imagine how I would have felt with the problem still there after changing the box.
Looking at the 3 month old wishbone I can't see anything wrong with it but it was obviously the root of the problem. To be honest appapartom relief I am a little embembarrassedat it was the fault. Thanks you all for the advice o this one this problem which stopped me jupjumping to change the gearbox too soon.
Kev
