That is the original factory headunit, the green / yellow / blue plug will fit in either top or bottom socket on the back.

it doesnt fit in either. the only thing i can thnk of is that it isn't the original H/U that can came with the car when it was new

It IS the original headunit for a non plexed GLX.

Dont know whether it makes much difference but my 2000 glx came with this radio as standard. I thought that in a glx the radio didnt need a screen due to having the ppt30 display. But cant tell you what the connections are on the back.

I thought the GLX had an MFD... How come that's got a screen in the stereo? surely that's an LX one.
Maybe that's why your plug doesnt fit.

Multicoloured plug should go in the TOP slot on the back of the radio.
Speaker ISO goes in middle slot.
Power ISO goes in bottom.
