Looked at other topics but none of them really answered my questions.
I need a cambelt changing + water pump so I went into pug to ask what parts I needed. The guy wasn't really sure if the rollers etc needed changing as well so I just bought the cambelt on it's own.
Question is should I buy the 'kit' as well I think it's an extra £70 or go somewhere else to buy it if it's needed?
Also pug wanted over £65 for the water pump but there's one on euro car parts for £35 will this be ok? Being a student I want to try and do the best for my car but money is important.

Kit is just the belt & the tensioner in the same box.
Its just cheaper to buy the kit then buying a belt & then a tensioners as seperate parts.

So I persume if I took the belt to the garage they would tell me I need the tensioner as well? I will just go back into pug and get a refund / swap it if it's needed.

Depends on the state of the tensioner thats bolted to your engine at moment.
You wont know until the covers are removed & timing belt slackened off.
If it was my car then it would be:
Timing belt kit & water pump.

Ok cheers that makes sense. Not sure if it's worth shelling out for a pug water pump though, it's hard to tell the quality just from the internet.

i changed mine last week (Cambelt kit (Belt & tensioner) from GSF about £40).
its such a quick simple job to whip the belt on and off, i'd leave the water pump well alone until you have to change it.
just have a good look at it once the belt's off to satisfy yourself.
all the best

Well if I were you,I would Change everything that moves under the cambelt, because it's something you do and then forget about,so but everything new, even if it's not OEM,but if you keep the old parts, you will face problems when you fit the new parts, specially the water pump,it's so important.

How did you get the whole kit for £40? Euro car parts wants £100 and pug want £120.
Yeah I'm trying to replce everything I can afford, just not sure if everything is needed. Will definately get the water pump now, so what about the tensioners should I get them as well or will a cambelt change be enough? Bearing in mind the car isn't due a cambelt change it's just it has no record of it being done so I'm doing it as well. But the car has done 68k so it really should have been done by now.
