i dont know what engine it is but if its a gti you have to basicaly drop the engine, and shift it all over to the left to beable to do anything , i would replace, cam belt and tensionor and water pump at the very least.

He has a 1.6 16v tu5jp engine, ive done both the gti being a little harder but still do that bad

Ok cheers for all the advice, will try and get the whole kit then. Thought you needed a special timing kit to do the cambelt, I will drop you a pm keiron.
