Took his 206 to the local garage and they did a diagnostic check on it, the ECU was showing several fault codes. The ecu was removed and sent to a speacialist to be repaired, upon refitting still showing fault codes, by chance on of thier technicians was passing so tested it in situ, diagnosis was that the ecu needed replacing, I bought one which was tested on a car before being recoded to his so we would not have to change the locks etc. No difference to the car, took the car back to the same garage today they ran the diagnostics again, no fault codes found. So we have nothing to go on other than the potentially expensive route of trial & error.

The car is slow to rev, power picks up around 2,200rpm as the turbo spools up, then flatlines a 3,000rpm, can get the car up to 70mph by short shifting and riding the 700rpm "power band", but any incline brings it down to 50mph. fuel consumpion is noticably worse also.

I`ve got a list of things it could be, but it would greatly help if someone had personal experience of this problem themselves.

What was the initial problem?

If you replaced the ECU did you replace the BSI or get it unlocked?

Is it a back street garage?

What they using to code read it with?
