Done a bit of reading.

Optional lamps, reflectors, rear markings and devices 20. Every optional lamp, reflector, rear marking or device fitted to a vehicle, being of a type specified in an item in column 2 of the Table below, shall comply with the provisions shown in column 3 of that Table.

PART II Requirements relating to optional front position lamps
3. In the case of any other vehicle the only requirement prescribed by these Regulations in respect of any which are fitted is that in paragraph 7 of Part I.

7. Colour: White or, if incorporated in a headlamp which is capable of emitting only a yellow light, yellow

That ties up with what I'd already read about front-optional lighting, so the suggestion made earlier that I need a pair of these lights/another LED vent on the other side is incorrect? If I'm mistaken macca1411 could you help point out where please mate? As mentioned I'm a new driver, need to steer clear of points for stupid things

They are fine. You need at least 2 lamps on the front. If you have more than two at least 50% on either side must work. They're fine. You are worrying waaaaaaaay tooooo much

It's a completely grey area and will depend on the tester.
If the light comes on with the sidelights, then it would be classed as part of the sidelight circuit, and some testers would say that it should conform to the lighting regulations. If you fit a switch which would then make it an auxilary light, then there are no lighting regulations (the same as front fogs)
You may fall foul of Regulation 27 of the Road Vehicles Lighting Regulations 1989 Part 11 Any other lamp used so as to cause undue dazzle or discomfort to other persons using the road.
Even if it doesn't dazzle or cause discomfort, it could still be enough to get you pulled, breathtested and PNCd, and depending on the police who stop you the possibility of a non endorsable being issued or words of advice. Although you have nothing to hide, it's a complete pain in the backside having to stop and waste 5 - 10 minutes everytime, just for the sake of not fitting a switch.
I would say if fitting any extra lights to a vehicle, fit a switch to avoid hitting the grey area and risking being stopped everytime the car is driven.

Only need 50% working on either side according to the MOT manual from VOSA
