It's a good list but you just know some people will go throught the list and still fail.
Front/rear seat belts, seat security.....yep my seat belts are there.
Drive shafts....yeah i've got 2 (does this mean they check the CV joints and gaiters)
See where I'm going, for people that have some idea, it's a good help, for others it will just confuse them even more.
Print the above check list, but also use this guide on how the vehicle will be inspected and possible reasons for failure.
There is still nothing concrete for the 2012 changes, they are still in the consultation stage. Keep your eyes on the VOSA website for the updates and changes.

From April 2012, the driver's seat must move forward and back; that is one change they are making

A good guide was published in issue 50 (May 2011) of Matters of Testing, link here:

2012 changes were all done & dusted around January, then it was communicated out to those who need to know (MoT testers, etc) in May. Fortunately they also make it publically available, see link above. Various other consultations take place on other matters, which will affect the MoT beyond 2012, though.
