Hey everybody!
Lately I've noticed it's getting hot inside the car, especially heat coming from the pedals area, I remember once someone having a similar problem, (can't find the thread..) he said there was some metallic "thingy" that's really hot after a drive, it's located just below the right the knee (I'm driving a left hand car so i guess in a right hand car it will be the left knee). I tried to feel for it today and touched it and it was really hot, guess this is what produces the heat.
anyone?....

Its called a heater. We use them a lot in this country Very Happy

On a serious note; it could be a hot water pipe for the heater matrix. Not sure as its left hand drive it could be in a different place. Possibly this pipe is blocked and causing a heat build-up.

You'll have turned the heater on and it will have made the metal framing of the center console hot

thanks for the replies.. I just didn't quite get what's so funny about my post.. maybe I didn't explain exactly where this "hot thingy" is located.. If i reach below the steering wheel and go all the way to the right side I'm touching it (again - right hand cars maybe different and possibly wont encounter this issue..

And by the way its like 35 degrees Celsius here these days.. that's about 95 in Fahrenheit.. Embarassed

I took some photos of the thing, it looks like a plastic box that has a tube\pipe attached to it which is coming from the engine side, when looking at it from the side it's located right behind the a\c selectors part of the console.. can't upload the photos now as I'm at work and no wifi available, will upload asap.

OK ok, breathing now...

That sounds like your heater matrix, and from the fact that the heat is unexpected, it is broken. Now I would suspect that one of the control rods has come loose/broken, these are attached to the knobs used to control the temperature.

It would amuse us, as being a more temperate country we would actually use the heating in our cars.

Nah this is a decentforum, its good to have a laugh these days, especially with all the news papers these days going on about financial crisis, arround the world wars, terrorisms, worlds going to end!

Its a joke, laugh or STFU!

Seems normal tbh! You see that thing underneath your bonnet, its called an engine, it gets very hot, and heats up the surrounding areas, added to this the head units heat coming from centre consol, and your going to get heat soak in mostly plastic parts, thats to take majority of the heat away from the metal, so it doesnt heat up too much! its all normal,

So basically that means the I would notice something is broken if I turn the a\c knobs right? well they're all ok, nothing broken..
