Hi all, new here so be gentle.
I have a 2005 206 1.4 Sport, covered 40k miles.
Every time I turn the engine over, 3 seconds after I get a loud tic from the engine bay, drops about 400 RPM for about a second then revs go back to normal.
Doesn't matter whether the engine is cold or hot get the same every time I start the car.
Any ideas ?

usually you get a tick when you get in if you have air conditioning and its on. Have you tried it with the air con off before you start the car. Sounds like the air conditioning pump could be having a bigger effect than it should on the idle

Its my sons car so dont know much about it.
but yes looks like its AC.
Start the car without the AC on and no tic.
Push the AC button once car is started, hear the tic and revs drop a bit.
Looking in the engine bay from the front, driversside, down near the bottom can see some sort of clutch mechanism spin up and spin down when you switch AC on and off.

Are they always loud like this and drop the revs so much ?

I think when you turn the AC on it does drop revs then goes back up again. I dont think there's anything wrong with it.

Yeah the tick noise, if it is the aircon that is, is the fuse or something?

Its normal for the revs to drop when the engine is started with air con on, although, 400rpm seems like a bigger drop than normal?
