Hi everyone

On Saturday evening I decided that I wanted to remap my 206 2.0 hdi and sent my map file off to Pro-Steve. The next morning I recieved an email with 2 maps, 1 for 115bhp and 1 for 125 bhp.

I decided to go for the 125 map straight away. Uploaded it to my ECU in under 5 mins and it was finished. Took it for a spin and it's RAPID!!! Very Happy I can't belived how much extra power the car has got now and just doesn't stop spinning lol.

Best £82 I ever spent (£60 for actual map from Steve and £22 for code reader off ebay). I would recommend anyone with a 206 or 306 2.0 hdi to get this done it is the best money you will ever spend, very easy to install and will not regret it.

My mates just had his 306 hdi done as well and that's the same as mine, it just does't stop pulling to the top of every gear and in every gear (still pulls really well at 70+ in fifth.

If your reading this steve then thanks for the great map.

Not 100% sure as my mate ordered it (we chipped to for the cable to lower the cost but I put cost £22 for cable as thats how much it is to buy) but pretty sure it was the Galletto 1260

All the cables are similar to use but this one looks like the one I used and is the one many people use who get remaps from pro-steve.

Honestly I would recommend anyone to get a map from steve and as said above everyone says he's good I haven't seen one bad review yet.

Btw it comes with loads of maps already but would't recommend anyone use these as they are all generic and may f**k your cars ECU up.

Steve tailors your cars original map to make it more powerful and as it is set up specifically for your car it is alot safer to use.

Generics are fine, they won't feck anything up if they are standard generic maps.

I don't think I'd ever bother getting a custom unless there were other mods on the car.

Just a tip when using the Galletto 1260

When the new map has finished uploading, a bit of Italian writing will pop up and you will have no clue what it means, but luckliy I found out.

It is just telling you to turn the ignition off for 10 seconds (DO NOT UNPLUG YET)

Do so then press ok, turn the ignition back on and then it is complete.

Generics are sometimes ok but will not give you as much power as a custom map, and for the sake of £60 you misewell get a custom one that you know is right for YOUR car and not just any of the same model.

Also don't you think its abit cheap to get a code reader for £22 and get for 'free' remaps on it worth more than that?

The maps from pro-steve are custom as he doesn't just say 'Right he wants a 206 remap, this file will work there you go'.

You email your original map to him and he modify's it from scratch rather than just sending you a generic one. Custom maps from garages cost £300+ yes but you are paying for their equipment and labour. And as everyone knows garages charge alot more than necessary (i.e £100 + for a service which is basically an oil change and a few checks which could be done yourself for next to nothing).

Instead of paying a garage £300+ why not get the equipment yourself for £22, get a custom remapped file fo £60 and do it yourself and save the labour cost. It's a 5 min job and even a monkey could do it just plug it in and press a button to upload it.

Simple

I see what you mean now, I think the word cutome is a bit vague, most people who have a cutom map would assume you either get RR time or the person would do a live map in the car.

I also dont see how its a proper custom job if he has never even seen/been in the car, im not saying that his maps are bad i just wouldnt say its custom.

There's a difference between generic, custom and tailored maps.

A generic is just a standard map designed for a certain cap that you can just slap on.

A custom is taking your map and altering it (without seeing the actual AFR/boost/torque plots for the car).

A tailored map is putting it on a dyno and using feedback from the car itself to decide what to do with the map.

Imo generic and 'custom' maps are exactly the same in terms of what they will do to the car, without having any feedback it is all guesswork. No if or buts, it's true, all guessing.

Not saying they are bad, for a non modified car they are perfectly fine.

I wouldn't touch either if I had any accompanying mods though.

Tailored would therefore be my route of choice.

When you send your maps off to him he asks you to send him details of the car such as general mechanical condition, milage and if you have any other modifications. He then takes all of this into account when writing the map for you car. So for example he sent me two maps a 115bhp one and a 125bhp one. My car has only done 90,000 miles and so the 125 one works fine.

However if the car had done 200,000 miles he would recommend using the 115bhp one to compensate for the high milage. On the other hand if you had an intercooler on the car he would send you a stage 2 map (if you ask) that is close to 140-150bhp (estimate) as the car would be able to handle the power.

But at the end of the day the point I am trying to make is for the money he is charging these maps work brilliantly and if you are still in two minds check out his website it might explain a few questions people have about him. Also has alot more reviews and a dyno result before and after.
