I have had my 206 for about 4 months now, and noticed that the speedo is about 10mph out. I didn't see his as a problem, and just continued to enjoy my driving and change my speeds accordingly. I have now realised that when i am stationary, the needle is moving further back round the speedo than it needs to, and is nearly hanging directly down! anyone help? as its starting to become annoying, and would love not to get a speeding ticket!
Thanks!

Just get a speedo cluster of ebay or scrapy. Make sure you check the model number from the front and if its 1 or 2 pin from the back. The dash on the speedo pulls off and there's one small star shape screw and the speedo is off. Also what reg is your car? as millage will then be a problem but it can easily be changed by mileage correct.

Failing that you can force the needle slightly further round when the car is stationary. Pull the binaccle off then the plastic cover, and move it gently futher round until it's in the correct position. be careful to do it slowly and gently, you can always go back if you overdo it, but if you break anything you will need a new cluster.

I have just tried to move the needle back to the right place, which worked fine whilst i drove around to check it for 10 minutes, but then when i pulled up and turned my engine off, the needle stayed in the right place for 5 seconds, then dropped back to the same position. Do you have any other suggestions because i really don't want to have to get a new cluster, as cant find any that have done similar miles.

Sounds like the pin is slipping? if so you can put a very small dob of glue on the pin to hold the needle in place. Dont know if it will work or not. part of me thinks that the needle goes to a full stop position when the engine stops.

As for a new cluster, you might not need one. If you rip a cluster apart the motor for the speedo needle pops out and you can just swop that over if there is any problem with the motor/pin.

Iv just for now put a tiny bit of bluetak where the pin is meant to drop to, and its doing the trick for now Smile Any ideas on how much would a new motor for the pin be? For future reference..

Depends on the scrapyard, some dont like you ripping a good speedo apart just for the little motor, milage may vary on that one. I paid a tenner for mine.

I think a guy on ebay sells them now and then, there are a few speedo repair companies online where you may be able to get one too.
