Hi,

I got the 1.6 xsi, but it has spax spring on it, and tbh they are doing my head in, bit hard, clunck when i turn, so im thinking of getting coilovers.

but what to get, i want a softer ride, also ive never put any on before, easy to setup etc?

any help greatly needed.

i did search but this is based on them fitting my 1.6 16v, and im in a rush to leave for work, thanks

Harder ride on Coilovers most of the time if you want comfort go back to the standard setup, comfort is something you got to sacrifice a part of if you want to lower your car even if you lower it the minmum your going to find it harder on bumps and stiffer in the corners.

I duno about the harder ride on coilovers part. My friend fitted some KW ones to his 207 Gti and they seem rather comfortable tbh.

Yeah i thought that, but something has got to be better than spax springs?
The main concern for me is the clicking while turning.

Isn't the clicking when turning your top mounts being shagged?

The ride is different with springs its more 'bouncy' whereas with coilovers its just one stiff hit and then back on track.

I guess at the end of the day its how low you are on either springs or coilovers hard for me to compare as mine is on coilovers and low.

Drop links make more of a clanging/rattling noise ?

i think so, but i thought to myself as i dont like the springs being that hard anyway i could just aswel change to coilovers, and replace top mounts for better ones at the same time.

You got coilies on yours, or was it your thread i thought where you were looking for some.

maybe its time for another group buy coilover thread Very Happy

I think the quality of the coilovers comes into play a bit too, you get what you pay for Smile

I have heard that spax are a hard setup though, I kind of like a firm suspension setup if I'm honest, if it's soft it doesn't make me think it's sporty and would handle well.
