Hi there,

Ever since i carried something heavy in the boot of my little 1.4 i get creaking from the (i think) the rear suspension.

Its hard to describe when it happens.........sometimes its going forward and turning other times its when i go over uneven road.

Does anyone know what this could be and or what i need to do?

Cheers

why wont you work??????????????????? ARGH F**k it!!!!!

Have you checked the Spare wheel cage? If its not that do you have leather seats which may be rubbing.

I have the same creaking I think, from the rear suspension. Especially when accelerating from standstill like at traffic lights.. it sounds like something is straining as the car pulls forward.

Same here I think. Mine only does it when the suspension rocks, either when the car surges forward or backwards, when up or downshifting. Doing my head in.

Greenpug Are your rear wheels showing any sign of negative camber? Common problem with the rear beams are worn bearings, which will creak over rough and bumpy surfaces. Had this problem with my 205 gti.

Whats are the signs or negative camber????
yeh they do creak over rough and bumpy surfaces.....however i have noticed that after the car has warmed up or after a fair bit of driving the noise stops and or doesnt do it as much.

Again, exactly the same here. It will always happen on the first pull out onto a road. The creaking will sound less serve re on the next few pull outs until it stops when the car is warmed up.

My MOT is next month, so perhaps will find out then what it is!

You found out what is wrong?
Could be driveshaft but doesn't sound like it, could be drop links or that you need stiffer shocks.

Hi all,

Unfortunately I don't have any useful information about the creaks :(.

Car passed its MOT and full visual health check with flying colours. On a road test no creaking was observed. - typical!

So its still a mystery i'm afraid.
