Right guys, just got another gti 180. it has a small chip in the window screen, about the size of a 5p. dont really want to go through insurance, but to fix the crack via auto glass is 75 quid. anybody know any other companies that do it cheaper ?
thanks in advance

Why dont you want to go through the insurance? Depending on your policy alot of them give free repairs on getting the chip repaired

Why not go through your insurance it will not effect your no claims.
Chips are normally fixed for free as well

Your premium tends to go up if you stay with the same insurance company anyway, it won't affect anything if you change company

I have chips repaired and even a screen replaced and my insurance didnt go up at all.
Iv just renewed with having my screen replaced and it did not effect the premium and I stayed with the same company.

Think it would depend if you had windscreen cover on your policy when you got the damage repaired.
With most insurance companies, if you have windscreen cover, they will replace the screen and you pay the excess (new screen is only about £100 so cheaper to pay for it yourself if you have a high excess) or repair the chips FOC to you.
If you don't have windscreen cover they would just treat it as a normal claim.

Chips will be repaired for free if you are fully comp. You dont normally need to have windscreen cover to have a chip repaired you only need that if you are having the screen repalced.
