Hi All
Total noob with a 52 plate 206, having a scary time with what i think is rear wheel steer. having had a look at a lot of answers here. But not sure if i'm looking in the right area.
When going into left hand corners, about half way round the corner the car seems to want to step out of line (sorry don't know how else to explain it) it’s a bit hairy scary. Anybody any ideas what is wrong. Please list solutions cheapest first, lol.
Thank you.

Welcome.
1st thing, is it your driving i.e lifting off in corners?
If its not that it could be your tyres or maybe the rear axle has had it?

Welcome to the french way of doing suspension. Torsion bars, loads of fun when you know how to handle them but does take some getting used to.

206 don't have re-wheel steer. When going round a corner how fast are you going?
What tyre have you got on it? Crap tyres could cause this
Is it lowered?
Tyre pressure if it's over inflated could course this.

Over-inflated tyres, crap tyres, lifting off / braking through a corner, shagged beam mounts.
Need a bit more info.

Thank you for fast answers. Its just been through an MOT, 2 days ago. although this has been happening for a little while, noticed it bad on the way to work. Could be crap tyres they are the cheapest. Im not going into the corners too fast (im a slowy). Not lowered bog standard 206. It sort of feels like i need to correct a drift (not explained very well again). It feels a bit like a problem i had with a Megane a few years back when the rear end bounced all over the place around corners, Dad fixed that replacing the dampers.

I'd take a guess thats its the tyres or the rear axle then.

I agree with rich I'd try changing the tyres first as that a cheaper job than the beam
I'd get some middle of the road tyre if i was you

I'd def say changing the tyres is the first thing you should do, I've not long bought a 180 and even though all 4 tyres were brand new they were budgets, it felt hairy going round corners at normal speed, got them changed and has felt fine since

Again thanks for being here and the help. I have just been out in the car and through hearing it remembered an important (maybe) bit of information i had forgot to mention. There is a banging (i think banging is too harsh a word) loud knocking coming from the rear end when i hit potholes / big bumps. Thought it was the spare wheel carrying device thingy, but have removed that and the knocking is still there. It may be related. Sorry feel total noob.

It'll be the axle then.

when i first got the 206, one of the first jobs i did was change the rear shockers as the car stepped out going over the slightest of bumps. if it's clunking then it further suggests it isn't dampening properly.
it's the cheapest place to start and in my opinion, likeliest cause of your worries.

Its just been through an MOT so should this have not been checked?
Also I didnt think they clunked when the shocks where gone on the rear as the beam takes the most of the impact from bumps ect?
