between 2500 rpm - 3000 i had my foot to the floor and i would barely move. Turbo seems ok no whinging and works ok at lower revs. Possible EGR valve? or bit of dirt stuck?

No I just heard about it but know nothing about the EGR itself or where it sits. How do i do this and what are the benefits?
Cheers

is yours a 2.0 or 1.4 orr 1.6?
The 1.4 is easy you just have to unplug the blue (i think) plug on the firewall underneath the wipers, the egr just recirculates some of the exhaust gasses through the engine to reduce emissions but it also makes you lose power, if you unplug the valve it stops the gasses going back through which gives you a more efficient burn and since diesels arent tested for emmisions it doesnt make any difference to the MOT

Unplugging the egr uses more fuel, and makes it harder to start in winter. Pointless mod, makes no good common sense

it might be worth looking up the original problem on tdocuk.co.uk, its pretty useful
and im not sure about how to go about unplugging it on a 2.0 but again it should be on that site in the how-to section
and yeah its just one plug
and it did make a difference on my car, it did drop about 5mpg but i am willing to sacrifice that for the difference it made to how it drives without it..

whens the last time the car was serviced ?
could be the pre filter thats on the fuel sender in the tank.
if it gets to the point that when you try to rev above 2500 and it cuts out chances are it's starting to get blocked.
just a case of removing the sender from the tank ( under the black plate under the driver side rear seat ) , pulling the filter off and giving it a good clean.

if you got no power after 2K rpm that means a dead turbo or boost leak

Also shortens the turbos lifespan

mine does this and I find the easy fix is this.
get car to 50
clutch down, turn key off
foot down on gas
turn key on
rev to 7k or so, Engine light will flickers
drive normally, turbo wil kick in
