Before anyone mentions it, yes I have searched but can't find anything related to this.

The nearside rear central locking motor on my SW has started making lots of noise when operating. it still works but is crazy loud!

is there a way of servicing these motors or is it a replacement only job?

any help would be much apreciated

My central locking is just stupidly loud all round, but never thought there was much that could be done. Be interesting to see what solutions come up
(crosses fingers and hopes it's an easy solution!!)

it's mostly mean that it's going to stop working in a while, what you can do is take the door card off,and spray DW40 over it,that might do the trick, but you better replace it,how old is your car?

and also the sound depends on the weather situation,so the weak motor will start making loud noise when operate when it's cold, and the sound goes away when it's warm or hot.

i changed a non working locking solenoid with one that makes this loud buzzing noise, sometimes it gets a lot louder and others its quieter, i'm just getting ready to replace it when it finally dies. been about 8 months with it now though and still no signs of truly dieing. upto you you can get another one and replace or just to prepare for it dieing. as i never truly noticed the first one was gone till about 3 months into owning the car... just keep an eye on it Smile
