a new neighbour has just moved in to my street, i was talking to him on saturday and was telling me he has a 206 gti on a 51 plate. he was telling me though that it has no A/C ?? i said i thought all the gti's had climate control as standard and is he sure its not an xsi, he says no its a gti ??
so today ive got home from work and the said car is outside so i go to have a look and sure enough it dosent have A/C, it also dosent have any badges (which is not unusal) but it does have the gti half leather and nimrods, again could have been added.
so does every gti come with A/C as standard or was it optional i had a w reg gti years ago and that was full climate control ??
cheers for any help.

you can buy the aux belt without a/c so i guess there must be a gti without ac.
pop the bonnet then you will know if it is a gti or not.

Look at the VIN
You want VF32CRFN, or VF32CRFR. That will tell you if it was originally a GTI. Also does it have gloss black mirrors?

I have a 2002 206 GTi 138 - didn't come with A/C - didn't come with anything at all almost But that's also a DK car, so maybe that's why.

My 2001 GTI 138 has A/C and half leather interior with nimrods too . I , like Top206 thought that all GTI's came full kitted as standard . Clearly I have a lot to learn

You need Service Box to see what spec the car was built to when it left the factory.
GTI spec is different depending on which country in the world the car was originally sold
Australian spec car's for example dont have the passenger airbag disarm switches as its against there laws to disable the passenger airbag, they also used to specify different side impact bars for some reason.
