Hey guys as some of you may know i'm in the stage of fixing all the little problems in the next week or so, ready for the car to go on the road, and i just finished cleaning my throttlebody and inlet manifold, after reassembling it i started the car and moved it forwards slightly ready for my parents to come home when i noticed when i press the clutch in (in neutral can't check other gears since it's sorned), i get a clicking noise.
Now it's not just a single click it's a "click, click, click, click, click, click, click, click", over and over again until i release the clutch (similar sort of rythm to when you have noisy tappets, maybe a bit faster), it doesn't seem to do it once i've selected a gear and started to bring the clutch up, do you lot have any idea what it is that is making this noise?
I've only driven the car 15 miles since i've brought it and that was to bring it home, since then it's only moved a few metres back and forth every now and then (think it's been about 2 month since i brought it). Just a final note the noise is fairly loud, it can be heard inside and outside the car above the idle engine noise but as i said already only when you press the clutch pedal in.
Any suggestions are welcome and much appreciated, thanks.
*EDIT* i forgot to mention the clutch feel heavier now, like on a 106 for those who have driven/own one, before it was light a feather (although this annoyed me).

Clutch cable self adjuster is broke, new clutch cable needed, handy sorted
Edit, just reread it, could well be a worn release bearing

can you feel any movement in the pedal as the clutch is making the noise ?
if the pedal feels like its bounceing under your foot the thrust bearing could be on its way out.

Other than it being very heavy now and the noise it feels like any other clutch, even the bitting point is in the right place.

it is self adjusting so the biting point won't change throughout the clutch life

I would have thought if it was the cable auto adjuster then the bite would be different? thats why i put that bit.
I shall grab a clutch cable in the next few days and see if that fixes it

As the noise only happens when you put the clutch in and and hold it there and the clutch is feeling heavier than before then I would suspect the clutch release bearing is worn out
If it was something to do with the clutch cable then I'd expect noises to happen when you move clutch pedal and cable and not when you are keeping it still

Yeh it aint the cable i went out earlier and decided to check with the engine off (something i should have done at the time really) and it doesn't click at all, so it's definatly to do with the clutch rather than the cable, i take it the bearing would come with a clutch kit if i got one?
Also how hard on a scale of 1 to 10 would you guys say changing a clutch is, i'm pretty confident when it comes to cars but i've never took a gearbox off (never needed to).

It's reckoned to be a garage 4 hour job but that's with 4 post lifts etc and not out there in the cold and rain 
By far the biggest pains are releasing the suspension strut lower ball joints and detaching the driveshafts from the gearbox/diff
But before you do, you say it's been sat still for some time and I guess it wasn't doing it when you drove it in and left it there so I'd put some working in on the clutch and bearing as sometimes clutch bearings "chatter" as they rattle in their securing cage. Sometimes the clutch plate initially sticks to the flywheel and picks up on bits of surface rust as it goes around. These soon clear with a bit of work on it. So i'd give it a work out especially if you're going to be changing it as a next option anyway.
Doesn't explain the sudden heaviness though

Just thought i should come back on this thread and mention the noise has stopped, i took it on it's first 220 mile to visit a friend as a test the noise has gone and it worked pretty much spot on as though it just rolled off the factory line...well except for the cigerrate lighters fuse going making me drive like a mad man to get home before the sat nav died but other than that yeh fine.
The only real issue there is with the car is pulling away, 2k rpm lifting the clutch up and the car judders slightly as though it's about to stall (rev's don't drop, and it's lifting the clutch up gently not just dropping it and the car wheel spinning like a chav), once the car starts rolling it's fine. Other than that the only other issue is the gearstick vibrates along with having alot of play in it (select a gear and you can still move it left and right about half an inch) so i guess that means the linkages and a engine/gearbox mount may/are going?
I know when my housemates clio started vibrating the gearstick alot one of her lower engine mounts rubbers had gone.

Dive plate stuck to the flywheel while stored..... probably got some corrosion on the face of the flywheel which will disappear in time

Yes of course i do MrSarcasm  , i've been driving for 3 years and i'm told i'm quite a good driver. The only reason i rev up to 2k when pulling away right now is simply because i'm not used to the car that and i can't seem to get the driving position right.

My 1.4 was just like this when I bought it, Judder in 1st thought it was my driving, as had an auto for last couple of years. That was about 6 weeks ago, now it's fine. I think it was sat up for a while before I got it.
