Well as i thought it wasn't just a simple re-gas that was needed. There is a leak on one of the joints on the tubing by the Driver's wheel arch. Peugeot wanted £200 for a set of tubing so i managed to get another set off ebay for £40 so i'm going to have a go at fitting them tomorrow and see if that sorts the problem. I'll let you know how it goes.

If there was a leak would a bit of tape not done the job? £40 seems excessive for something you could easily patch up without seeing?

Air con high pressure side can easily reach 200psi. I don't think a piece of tape is going to do the job

Just had the pipes swapped over. And it all works great now. Air con guy said the compressor isn't as good as it should be but the car is 11 and the air is still ice cold so I'm not complaining, and it only cost me £65.
