Already replaced the exhaust mounts and removed the spare wheel, cage and the hook and bolt that holds it up

Hoping its not a sign i need a new rear beam Sad

jack it up and check for play in the wheel (wheel bearings) or trailing arm (trailing arm bearings) thats what i would do next anyway.

Thanks, How would i check for play in the trailing arms?

I'll tape up the boot in the morning before work and see how it goes, there's this one bad road on the way where it sounds like the back end is gonna fall off lol

I gave up tracing every knock and rattle on my car, unless they are bad, because you'd be forever fixing little noises!

Check to see if your shock absorbers are loose, or that the exhaust is knocking against the underside of the car.

Failing that, you're probably going to need a new rear axle. Has you lowered the rear end excessively in the past? or has it ever been?
The bearings in the axle could be shot, and from memory you can't just replace them, the whole thing would need replacing.

You could try taking off your rear wheels and making sure the ARB hasnt worked loose. Basically it could be a lot of things lol.

Used to own a 206 XSi
