I know there's a live thread with the guy whos clutch rattles but mine is quite different..
Its intermittent, generally at higher speeds, ie above 30, I cant hear it while the cars just stood, and it appears to stop by pushing the clutch in
Its like a high pitched rattle, like a kids rattling a rattle..fast!
I did think it was brake pads rattling, but seems not, and its one of those noises you can hear most when the passenger window is down and the sound bounces off walls..
Ive tried putting the window up but I know its still there

Could be a worn thrust bearing, but you can normally hear that when stationary.

have you check cv boots and gear box oil

Does the thrust bearing move when stationary?
I do think the gearbox oil needs doing, gears are quite stiff in a morning, and the clutch was replaced in the last 2 years, although I know they arent guaranteed to last forever, and this noise is almost definately on the nearside, so I am thinking LilLew you could be right, CV/gears.

Think I may have solved this one, and its one of them homer simpson "doh" moments, rocker cover, meant to have 6 screws in it, mine had 2!
How stupid do I feel?
