Am repping the ST corner!
Peugeot 206 GTi (99-06) 2.0 (180bhp) 3d Weight 1125 kg
MPG
32
Insurance Group
28
0-60 mph
7.5 s
Ford Fiesta ST (05-08) 2.0 ST 3d Weight 1137 kg
MPG
38
Insurance Group
26
0-60 mph
7.9 s
Also has cheaper road tax miles cheaper insurance (I found)and very easy to modify (change the flexi for a miltek and a k&n filter and you looking at 165 bhp roundabouts) and muchos better the drive than the 180 imo
EDIT. nearly forgot timing chain over belt anyday |
Try comparing to a proper hot hatch, not a 206
Renault Clio 182 1998cc 3dr Weight 1070kg
mpg
34.9mpg
Insurance group
16D
0-60
6.7 s
67kgs lighter than the ST, not quit as good mpg wise (although I don't believe for 1min the the ST can achieve 38mpg except at 56mph on a motorway) and over a second quicker to 60!
Oh and btw I'm a huge Fiesta fan and have owned them on and off for 18 years now! The ST was just a bad design, which is a shame really as Ford could have made it so much better! |
People keep quoting all these figures and most of them are bulls**t anyway.
The clio 182 does not weigh 1070Kg thats the 172 cup.
The actuall differneces in 0-60 times between a clio 172, 182 + cups are in reality basicly the same as a 180.
So all figures are b******s.
Thats my view, if the OP doesnt like his car drop an anvil on it, it looks s**t anyway, go out and test drive some other cars and find one you like.

Did we ever get to how much the budget was for the owner of a mid range 206 that doesn't like it after doing nothing to it?
As said earlier pretty much any car can be fun. I love my 1.4 Glx may not be fast but for what it is its fun enough till i win the lottery then i will upgrade it and get a super car.
If you don't like your job you change it, if you don't like your car do the same. Anyway please stop whining end of the day your the driver and if you can't make it fun then your driving must be poor.
5 pages and i don't think we got anywhere really uther than comparing 2 cars one was 3 up the other unknown. Get the Audi better traction and turbo just when they go wrong like big they go wrong big end of my personal rant

It's ages since we've hd one of these silly 'my car is faster' and 'that good car is s**t' discussions. They don't get any better.
Fact is the Fiesta ST is virtually identical in performance to the 206 GTi. It was a very good little car, could have done with a bit more power simply because the chassis was more than capable of handling it. There is certainly lots of potential with the engines.

oh and i was bored as im 20 and with me buying the 206 as a little cheap run around wile got my flat sorted... with having a 1.4 ZR (105bhp standerd) 2 years ago i just was so bored with the 206. and also going from a zetec S 1.6 turbo down i was bored out my brian driving...'plus its abit girly iv been told by all my mates' LOL
who ever said that the zr is dated i agree, but the overall driving is nice....ugly inside but outside looks half decent....just cant beat the handling and pull it has
