In my old 1.9d I got about 50 litres of fuel from near empty, but on my 1.4, 06 plate I'm getting about 40 litres in (from near empty) before I can't put anymore in. The gauge also isn't showing that the tank is full; the highest it'll go to is about halfway between the first quarter of the gauge. Any suggestions as to why this may be?

If the fuel pump is cutting off when you are filling up, then it's the gauge that's faulty not your tank

The pump cuts off when the tank is at capacity but I thought 206's tanks are 50 litres, so every time I fill up the pump is cutting off at 40 litres - 10 below capacity. The gauge seems to be right because it's showing that that 10 litres isn't in the tank, but the pump is cutting off because its nearing capacity

Had the car 3 months and it's done it ever since. I've not changed anything on it.

When the fuel light is on, how much fuel does it take to fill it up?

40 litres or so. Today I'd driven about 20 miles on the fuel light before I filled up. I think the manual says you have 30 miles or so left in the tank at that point so I presumed that the tank was nearly empty. I got 40.8 litres in until I couldn't get any more in.

I can still only get 40 litres in and the gauge isn't reaching the top, even though the tank is meant to be 'full'.
