just bought a 5 door in silver,26000 miles,2005.When you switch the air con on the little green light lights up but no cool air.I have not checked whether it needs gassing up,but as only low miles did not think that to be the problem.Could it be the clutch mechanism on the pump,is there an easy fix(remove a shim ?)or has anyone on here got any thoughts on the subject

It will want regassing.
No or low gas in system = pressure safety switch stops the compressor switching on.

Thanks for info Brad, its not on the road yet, I dont need it until December but I am trying to get every thing spot on before it goes on the road. Its a really clean and tidy car. Me and a friend have serviced every thing you can and wax oiled every thing you can see,lol This is the last thing to put right apart from a new engine tray which should arrive next week as the other one is damaged.

Its not taxed or insured so cant take to have gas put in the air con yet

Make sure they pressure test it, and when the air con system is vacced out it holds its vac for 10 mins. otherwise the gas will just leak back out.
i had that trouble luckily there's a garage down the road so they picked it up for me to get it through its MOT

Re-gassing is the cheapest option, i thought my compressor had gone, but after a free re-gas i found that i have a massive leak in the system

my first pug had a masive air con leak and im so glad i got my new one now. the aircon runs like a dream im as cold as ice in it. but when i get out it feels even warmer

Never used my air-con in the 4 years I had my old 206, wastes fuel, can't be having that.

Air con uses LESS fuel then driving with the windows open

My aircon has stopped working twice but i have been told it was due to the wife not using it enough. If at all.
She says i uses up fuel but study show that at a low speed have windows open and at higher speeds use the aircon.
Systems are so efficient that you won't really notice the the difference on fuel using aircon anyway.

Aircon is use it or lose it.
It uses hardly if anymore fuel than normal.
Get it regassed

Air conditioning is there for added comfort so there will be a small (tiny) cost in running it.
Would you sit on a deck chair instead of an armchair just because it's cheaper?
