Hi,

I've had a search through the forum and couldn't find any thing like my issue.

On my 02 206 GTi whenever I turn the wheel to the right to drive round a corner or bend there is a slight grinding noise from the near side wheel. I think the brake pad is touching the disk very slightly. I don't think the disk is warped as they are pretty new and there is no juddering under braking.

The next issue I have is when I have the wheel on a right turn and I brake to a stand still the ABS kicks in on the near side wheel.

My first thoughts would be that the caliper on that side has some issue e.g. ceasing. Could it be anything more than that?

I wish I still had my WRX.

Check the toothed wheels on the driveshafts, they are a common issue in the GTI as they crack & cause ABS issuse Wink

Might be a silly question, but how do you know the ABS is kicking in on the N/S wheel?
When I've had ABS, the only feedback I've had is through the pedal, granted as far as I know it has never only kicked in on one wheel.

For your grinding problem, get the CV joints checked

Standard 206 ABS will be all 4 wheels at the same time once the system is triggered.

Only 206's with ESP fitted can brake 1 individual wheel at a time with the ABS system & this car is to old for ESP to be fitted.

OK thanks for the help.

I think it's the near side wheel locking that causes the ABS to kick in. It's the small lock up on that wheel that makes the ABS kick in. It doesn't do it when turning right.

I will get the CV joints checked. Would the wishbones have anything to do with the grinding noise as the N/S/F suspension is a bit clunky over bumps.

I wish I still had my WRX.
