My son's 206 1.4 HDi recently suffered a failed speedo, rather than get it repaired I've replaced it with one from an SW which is working fine and the mileage has settled at what was on the old clocks.
The new head unit has an oil temp gauge which the old one didn't and its the only gauge on the unit that's not currently working.
Searching the net I found the following www.peugeotforums.com/...auge-2674/
Could anyone help me identify the wiring that need to be done to make this work and its connections.
I appreciate that I might still need to change the sensor unit as well but it would be good to checkout the wiring first.
Thanks David

I think it needs activating in Peugeot Planet. The wiring is probably already there.

Need's configuring in the BSI or dash, can't remember which and you need the wiring and sensor in the sump

Ive done this mod a couple of years ago.
You need to change the oil level probe for one that has combined oil level & temp.
One type has a 22mm hex & the other type is 24mm hex, deep sockets work best.
Straight swop for the oil probe BUT then you need to activate the oil temp gauge in the BSI configuration set up with Peugeot Planet & erase the dash error that will be stored waiting for you.

Thanks to everyone for there help, I'm overwhelmed that I've got so many replies so quickly.
As I said this is my son's car not mine and I'm not used to working with Peugeot's.
I'm guessing that Planet is akin to the Rover T4 system, I have an MG ZT-T myself. As such does anyone know of or can recommend where I can get the BSI/ECU re-coded in Essex, in the Chelmsford/Basildon/Southend/ areas (any ideas what this would cost).
I'm happy to change out the sensor as I'd already done a little bit of research on this.
Thanks again to everyone here, and just to say the response was so much quicker than on the Rover/MG Forum.
David

That forum is owned by a arrogant d**che that's why.
PM a guy called Addaz, not sure if he'll be able to do it for you now as he's an apprentice at Peugeot.
