Hi I was wondering if you can advise me on a solution to solve a reving issue on a peugeot 206 1.1 It starts fine but after a few minutes it revs quite high on its own for about a minute or so than gets back to normal. It does this each time i start the car and drive.
Also lately ive noticed that the car sometimes struggles to start. Could this be related? I've recently put in a new battery but im still having this issue.

They could be related, check/clean/replace the idle control valve, this would be my number one suspect (although revving problems can occur without this being at fault). The ICV is what regulates the engine speed at idle. Also look at the throttle position sensor.
Is the EML (engine management light) on?

The EML isn't on. I was just reading another post and it seems they got this exact problem fixed by replacing the ETS. But I have no idea what an ETS is or stands so. Have you any idea?

Engine temp sensor... usually on your thermostat housing but I dont know the 1.1

Solution was changing the green temperature sensor.. £15 quid from peugeot.. I still got the car but now that its fixed i'll be selling it. My car also used to give problems starting at times and this little sensor sorted that out too. I hope this helps anyone out there with who comes about similar issues

I had a similar problem where the car lost all Exceleration and car would some times over rev on its own.
Took to a a garage and they said the temperature reading was really high so had temperature sensor changed and that fixed it.
The problem I have now is that the Temperature gauge needle seems to go high, about One digit from near the red. This is mainly when driving on Motor ways at fast speeds.
It used to stay on 90"" about half way on the gauge, but now the needle seems to go up and down all the time.
Could this be Faulty Thermostat, Faulty Temp sensor (1 year old) or maybe worse ??

It might simply be that the coolant hasn't been bled properly after fitting the ETS. Air in the system will mean sudden hot spots and cooling
