i had this problem with a 306 i had, but was able to stop it by turning the boot stops out more.
this cant be done on the 206, has anyone else had this problem and sorted it??
starting to do my head in now.

If you mean a rattling sound then yer that's common. Bit of tape around lach or
Readjust the latch a bit (on car body side) five min job.

will have a go at that, but did try that on my 306 and it did nothing. only ever had this problem with pugs.
might try to get some larger rubber boot stops.

Adjusting the striker plate should reduce it. Might even need adjusting on the hinges (if that's possible on a 206)
What sort of condition is your boot seal in? Might be worth investing in a new one if it's perished or flattened.

boot seal is fine, am going to try some tape on the latch and move catch slightly.

The striker on the latch is worn. Wrap it in tape or replace it.

I just pulled my latch back and it made it much tighter. No rattle now

The latch has a plastic sleeve on it that wears. Just replace the whole thing or rotate the sleeve.

Try electrical tape its going to last longer.
