Cheers, don't really understand what you mean.

If the axle needs replacing the nuts can be undone and the axle will come off still? Not sure if the mounts have been welded in but everytime I've sorted an axle out the mounts can be left in anyway.

Understand what you mean by the axle now, I thought the thread was threaded into the chasis maybe the bolt has been welded underneath meaning the axle bolts can still be removed, just hope I never have to find out.

Didn't realise it hasn't been updated in so long, it's now complete and at a stage where it just needs to be tested, hopefully will be done over easter.

Apologise for the lack of photos looks like it misses some stuff out, a lot of the project was just re threading parts, sorting rust patches etc so not really worth taking photos of.


Got a new rev counter for the shift light (don't care about revs really) has taken a long time to get working at the revs are completely incorrect but the shift light works at the correct time so that's all that matters.

The light is right under the steering wheel, you can't see it in the photo

 


 



Got 180 brakes fitted, got a 23mm master cylinder on the way but they are bled with the standard 19mm one at the moment and the brake linkage adjusted, seems to be alright until tested properly.

 


 


 


 



Also painted rears, disks and pads are next on the list

 



Finally adjusted the rear, sits around 40mm higher now. Did have some photos of it being done but isn't that interesting.

 



Mudflaps fitted

 



Antil roll bar bolts were both sheered (before I owned it) tried drilling it out but was absolutely impossible so ended up making some new thread.

 



Adapter re threaded for the water temp sensor

 



Battery relocation finished with a 150amp ANL fuse, also fitted a new battery saves having to jump start it all the time Laughing

Cheers guys Smile Yeah it's nice to think it's finally done, at least to a point - will start working up suspension and brake upgrades when I find out how it handles.

Still haven't driven it properly yet, nearly been a year Laughing but when I was in it when my brother had it I remember it pulled, waayy better than my xsi.

Your XSI would feel slow if it was cam'd against a stock VTS let alone a stripped and breathered one lol!

You will love the drive when you tap that b***h properly!

You will probably find yourself selling the XSI soon after driving it, although not practicable it will be very cheap to run and alot quicker and fun to drive!

I am talking to someone about a S1 rallye short ratio box at the moment so if I can get that it should be even better, but even more of a pig to drive.

Not sure if it will ever be on the road to be honest, it would have to get through a dodgey mot and with no heater matrix, power steering, sound deadening and even the washer jet system (yes someone actually went to the hassle of removing it all) it would probably get annoying on a daily commute.

I am surprised at how cheap and economical to run they are vs the power. Some of my friends are into jap cars, especially hondas and they laugh at the bhp figures, but in practice they are bloody quick. Just watching some at santa pod last week, granted they may have been modded and had a good launch but I saw a few keep up with scoobs and focus sts / rs's

Dif'd Rallye box;)

They obviously aren't the fastest car on the road but they can be made very quick.

Really wish I'd cam'd and ITB'd mine, defo would have got a feature.

If only I had the cash Laughing it's going to get to a point where I am spending too much money considering the shell and the paint is so crap. Serious option for the future is getting a clean 106 gti and swapping the parts over.

If anything they are extremely fun, much more than I thought. Yeah that's the next option, yours looked stupidly clean remember seeing it a long time ago in some pictures.

Got some more 205 wheels the other day as well, going to run slicks on one set and normal / wets on the other

Got some new parts to try and finish it off a bit.


Needed fogs to stop the arch liners ripping out.

 


 



23mm master cylinder, will have it fitted soon.

 



Fire extinguisher.

 



205 wheel, going to be refurbed in flourescent green and run semi slicks, whilst the other set will be kept for full slicks.

 



And lastly a 1.3 short ratio box Smile will be fitted after mallory

Managed to delete the photos, ah well

Went to curborough sprint track last wednesday to test the car. It was horrible weather, oily track and it was p**sing it down so didn't get a good conclusion about how the car handled. Since the brakes didn't seem to be very effective I stripped them down checked all the pistons and replaced all the pads.

Went Mallory Park on Saturday was extremely fun

Car performed good with only issue being a wheel bearing getting quite worn - and near the end all of the brakes completely failed so had to retire an hour early

I don't know what this was, but it was absolutely rapid. Heard the owner say it has a 2l in it, and could see the ITBs sticking out

Got a quite a bit of footage but uploaded one of the sessions.

Just be warned I get overtaken - A LOT but it pulled really well just not as much as everyone elses

 


Hoping to get another track day sorted for late July / August just depends when I can finish it off needs some work doing

-New wheel bearing
-Brakes sorting out (possibly faulty slave or mc)
-Gearbox fitted
-Petrol gauge fixed - not knowing how much fuel is in is worse than I imagined

Possibly some more things, can't really think of anything right now
