i found somethings to be different on my 180 as compared to the 138. while some differences are expected, im experiencing differences which i thought should be quite similar with the 138.

on my 138 my 3 pedals are on the same level where as the throttle pedal on the 180 is a lot lower than the brake & clutch. to make things a little more complicated, the 180 throttle pedal have to be pressed about an inch before im actually feeding oil to the engine whereas my 138 would get oil and rev with just that slight tap. at some point i did think maybe i should get a new throttle pedal on ebay but it got me confused.

my gti180 pedal is similar to THIS, i recognize it by the big plastic piece.
whereas a new pedal on ebay look like THIS, similar to my 138's pedal. part no. matches the 180 the according to service box. so which would it be?

another thing, the stiffness of my 180's clutch is A HELL LOTS more as compared to my old 138.

138 gear movement feels very smooth like it has a well defined path for the stick to move into all 6 gears and gives that nice solid sound. 180 gear change feels mushy, still able to change into gear just fine but the feel is just totally different from the 138.


are all 180's that different when first out of the factory? or am i needing to change parts on the 180? thanks for reading Very Happy

Is your 138 a drive by wire? That would explain the throttle response issues. Gearbox is sloppy on every pug, but the 180 uses cables instead of rods.

i don't understand why people keep saying electronic throttle body is less responsive than cable throttle

The thing about the throttle-pedal being lower than the other pedals, it's probably to make it feel more racecar-like in the way of making it easier to use heel-and-toe technique when on a track.

Will these modern motorised TB cars allow brake pedal and throttle to be pressed at the same time?

Yeah you can press both at the same time, tried and tested on mine.

Tried driving with the brakes on the other day in the Jetta and the engine shuts down.

The other halfs 207CC is difficult to heal and toe because of the different pedal heights.

its the same with the 180, it is difficult to do but it doesn't shut it off

Depends on the software Wink

Also on a decently designed setup there will be twin sensor outputs for each pedal as a built in fail safe.

I would rather have a cable throttle, less stuff to go wrong.

so the 138 is cable throttle and the 180 is electronic throttle?
is that why my 180 throttle pedal feels like i need to step a little harder than the 138 to get gas into the engine?

or is it just another separate fault on the 180, nothing to do with the electronic throttle thing..
