I had a noise from mine when i bought it, had recently had a new pulley. Turned out to just be the tensioner. Its adjustable in 2 ways- 1 part manually and other automatically. The manual part needed adjusted so it was holding the belt at the furthest most point, then refitted the belt and all is spot on! Was only noisy at tick-over with mine..

I recently changed the bottom pulley on my 1.4 hdi, cost £45 and took 20 mins to change.
How do you adjust the belt tensioner manually then, i've never heard of this.

The actual tensioner wheel is offset so can be moved around ajusting the tension.
