My headlights also come on by themselves. Do you have problems with the indicator as well cancelling itself?

What about when driving at night? When indicating left or right with the healdights on, do the headlights turn themselves off and you have to wiggle the stick to get them to come back on? If so then its your comms unit. I'm in the process of having mine replaced. You need to check which one suits your car, they all have different model numbers and codes.

Bugger!

This has just started to happen to the gfs Pug!

You indicate (Left or Right) during the day, the indicator flashes for a moment and then the lights come on! If you tap the stalk down again it switches the lights off and the indicators switch back on! Pain in the a**e, especially when people think you are flashing them to cross the lane to turn into another road!

Are the indicators not separate from the bsi unit thing? And how much do new units cost?

Com2000 unit is around £200 new.

If you can find the part number you need for your model of car, there is a guy selling them brand new on eBay for around £130. Then just get Peugeot or someone you know to fit it and it will work out cheaper. That's what I'm doing.

a**e at the price of a new unit!

I think its a phone call to the dealers parts desk for a part number!

Are they difficult/fiddly to fit (or do they need a similar kind of shut down start up procedure like when you remove the battery)?

I best look into one quick now! Rear lights didnt even swtich on the other day when driving in the dark!

Well I bit the bullet and prdered one from pug yesterday....£185.10p!

I had a breif look on ebay, but as its the misses' car and it takes the most miles out of both the motors, she wanted it straight from pug!

Fitting is £138.79 too. Gulp! An hour and a hlafs work they have quoted to get it in and all working as it should!

.Good bye very small christmas bonus!

An hour and a half to fit it? If I'm not mistaken, it can be done in about half an hour, if that.

My mate at Pug main dealer can drive in to the workshop, swop the com unit & drive back out again in under 12 minutes Very Happy

I suspected that the time to fit and do whatever else to the unit was a long time!

But as the car is there all day now (the drive-in drive-out slot was towards mid December and we cant wait that long due to the rear lights turning off in the dark now) they can fit it at their own pace Smile

Remove drivers airbag, steering wheel, plastic steering column trim, unplug / unbolt / unclip the com 2000 unit & slide it off.

Refitting is reversal of removal after sliding the audio stalk in.

Aaah, so it doesn't need plugging into Pug Planet or anything like that?

How easy is it to remove the steering wheel without a puller?

Tempted to save myself a tad of cash if its this easy!

Only 206's with ESP need to use planet as the steering angle sensor is inside the com unit.

BSI needs to be shut down correctly, drivers airbag is a clip on type.

Once airbag is removed you undo the torx bolt slightly a few turns that holds the wheel on BUT DONT REMOVE THE BOLT YET! & then a few smacks with the back of the hands from behind soon frees the wheel of the splines, now fully remove the bolt.

If you fully remove the bolt then smack the wheel to free it of it will suddenly come loose & either smack you in the face / rip the wiring out from the com unit or both Laughing

Aah ok! I remember the process for the BSI shut down for when we changed the reverse switch on the gearbox!

Would it be worth getting hold of a puller (i tried the whacking trick on my brothers corsa, and after 2 hours of smacking, yanking and pulling it we gave up)!? Hands hurt for a while after!

Why couldn't this have gone when the steering wheel was fitted last year!?

Also, dim moment, was it only the 180's that came with ESP?

You dont need a puller for a 206 steering wheel, it will come of easily enough Wink

GTI 180 had standard ESP & some newer GTI's gained it as well.

my 54 plate HDi GTi has esp, and it works lol.

it got a bit of a test in coventry a few weeks ago when i hit some black ice at 30mph, was amazed at how quickly the car recovered, was expecting to hit the wall on the opposite side of the road.
