i always through they are developed by PSA. but someone told me they are actually developed by lotus?
any though?

Thats wrong. Only GTI180 cylinder head is developed over EW12 VVT head by Mecachrome (Formula 1 engine company).

I also heard the cylinder head design was by mecachrome.
Apart from this I thought it was all developed by Peugeot Sport.

No Peugeot sport couldnt do it.
The way I head it was that Peugeot could not get the claimed 180bhp from gti engine. They kept blowing up.
They gave the whole engine and asked for lotus to give the car 180hp. They changed the bottom end design, bigger valves and added the VVT system from their Toyota owners.
They also fitted a equal length / balance exhaust and air intake. Giving the around 180 bhp.

No-one ever claimed it to be 180bhp

Toyota never owned lotus. Proton do.
They just have an engine supply deal with toyota.

It is 177bhp and it was called the GTi180 to rival the Clio 172
