Am I right in thinking these are used to lever the hub apart slightly to make pulling the damper out of the hub easier?

 

2001 GTi 138, Bilstein Sprint dampers, H&R springs, 21mm Peugeot Sport torsion bars, 22mm rear ARB, Peugeot Sport Group A wishbones, 283mm discs, Goodridge stainless hoses, Maniflow 304 grade 4-2-1 2.5" manifold and system, 200 cell cat, Richard Longman head, 45mm Jenvey throttle bodies, 9.5mm TB spacers, 90mm air horns, Jenvey throttle linkage, Jenvey fuel rail, Aeromotive and Goodridge fuel fittings and braided hose, ITG sausage filter, Radtec custom radiator, Piper Ultimate Road cams, Piper vernier pulleys, Omex 600 ECU. Saxo electric PAS pump, Vibra Technics engine mounts. Samco coolant hoses, TTV steel flywheel, 4.76 final drive ratio, 307 CC 180 ratios. 2019 BMW 530i. 2017 Mercedes C300 convertible.

Its not hard anyway. Never needed these tools when ive removed my dampers. Just undoing the hub nut loosens it enough.

But they are a tight fit so there's often the need for a hammer. If there's a more precise way of doing it I'd rather buy the tools.

was thinking that but wasnt sure if i would be right Laughing thought there might have been a different way Laughing


there quite good idea tbh, tho i find a bolster tapped into the back a tiny bit (so not to damage anything) works fine for me. if there not expensive i would still have a set for my tool box tho lol Very Happy

These tools are a waste of time for the 206. The gap in the hub is miles too big for the socket to fit.

It does describe the sockets and a hub nut tool but can't see how they would help.

I took a light skim off the hub some with coarse emery paper, takes a while but did a nice job. Can remove both front dampers from on the floor to on the bench in less than 10 minutes. With a light grease they just slide straight out.

Alternatively I have used a small chisel hammered in the tab to open the aperture up enough to slide the damper out.
