PSA Peugeot / Citroen where one of the first car manufactures to use CAN / multiplexing, was only really Mercedes that used it any earlier.

Most VAG and BMW were canbus at the same time.

Was mainly over the pond and Asia that was late introducing it.

Blows a lot a diag tools as well when people fit aftermarket radios because it sends current down the K-Line at the same time as you are using CAN-high and CAN-low for diagnostics.

I've seen plenty of warnings about that for VAG stuff Laughing

I know a few garages / mechanics who will refuse to plug there diag tool in while an aftermarket radio is connected.

They should just plug in a KKL or obd tester to check first.

Im actually surprised we dont have more dead BSI units on here from people dicking around with things they know nothing about.

You can't expect me to go to Peugeot or a garage to change an interior light bulb. Not a fan of these stupid coments on this site. I know all I need to know about my car. It hasn't yet seen a garage apart from its mot which passed with no advisorys. Every time I come here for help I get insulted yet again. And I see other people get the same ha. Sad

You never mentioned changing the interior light bulb in your original post, you openly admitted to dicking about with the units switch terminals Rolling Eyes

If you have forgot what you actually put i've quoted it below for you.

Recently there hasnt been a very good conection on my interior light. i have to twiddle the switch to get it to come on sometimes. so i set about taking the switch out and bending the terminals back a little. I did this with the engine running not really thinking of the damage that could be done...
i saw a spark as i was plugging the light back so somthing shorted but then the engine cut out and i lost all the ignition.

ha sorry lol. the original problem was the little contacts inthe light just needed bending back up a little, but still the same routine as changing bulb, sortof.

sorry to snap but I still got a grudge from all the abuse I got when I crashed my old 206 last winter when it was cold. eveyone just turned against me because I said we went for a cruise. i think the word cruise started alarm bells somewhere. when I say cruise i mean nice drive, not racing. we where going to a view point to look at the view. We all drive sensibly as we are all 20 or older now, and we all need our cars to get to work etc. and there wer only two cars anyway. I just hit some black ice at the topof a hill and skidded the whole way down and went through a wall lol. And with the problems and lack of funds that it caused I drive even slower now. and i didnt claim so no ones premiums will have gone up by 0.00000001%. jus people need to be less stereo typical. if people think im a chav well to prove them wrong i wear a flat cap and im a farmer lol.
rant over.

btw cars booked into an auto electrical specialist because its beyond me now, checked all fuses and cant think what the hell it could be to they can scratch their heads instead whilst i milk my cows Smile
