Left hand side under the bonnet. Can't miss it. Something I though you would know with you offering the services in your sig.

You don't need to know where a ECU is if you flash via obd, although it doesn't fill you with confidence

thanks guys. Never done any ecu/remap work on a 206 & haven't looked under the bonnet of the xsi yet.

It's not for a remap neither btw. Customer says it may need replacing. So i'll find out when i get there next week

funnily enough i've serviced a 1.4 this morning & noticed the ecu in the engine bay

That wasn't meant as a dig pal. I would just be worried about messing with things like that if I didn't even know where they were. From what I gather swapping the ecu from one car to another is not that simple.

You don't need to swap the BSI as he should be able to do epprom work.

Surely if he using a second hand unit (replacing keys, immobolisier, etc) and not rebuilding the original then this would require a swap Smile

well the lad said he'd seen another ecu with all the relevant parts needed inc 2 keys for a reasonable price

He's only got 1 key as it is so with the cost of possibly repairing his ecu then getting him a new key he said it may work out cheaper for him to buy a complete 2nd set off of ebay or something as he says he'd just swap everything over himself apart from the locks as he'd just keep the originals then i can cut him another blade to go with his 2nd remote

He just wants me to take a look at the ecu & see what i think would be the best option

i've got 4 different bit of equipment that should be able to talk to his ecu. I'll just see how it goes when i get there after xmas

You can't swap immo via obd

You need bdm

And you don't need a BSI, new keys etc if you can do epprom work. Just change the eeprom. I got three sorted now for under £120.

If you can remap and it's just the chip you flash with k-line that's f***. Fit a new chip and flash with org dump.

If you can't flash with bdm, you shouldn't be remapping.
