got my 1.4 206 in march this year its had sevaral problems but they have been fixed (gear box and air con) recently its been playing up, it will some times turn over fire for a split second and then just continue to turn over with no intention of starting, and other times more often than not it will just turn over with no attempt to start at all, i need to just turn off and on the ignition a few time to get it to start, and then there are some days that it starts as a car should start! frustrating! had a new battery about a month ago, and it cured it for about 2 weeks and then has started doing it again any help would be greatful Smile Very Happy

First of all welcome to the site.

What year is the car?
Has it been serviced recently?
Have you got a spare key and tried starting it from that?

What make of plugs went in at the service. There are known issues with anything other than Bosch plugs.
Could be something as simple as the earth lead from the battery to the gearbox or possibly the transponder aerial around the ignition barrel. Difficult to diagnose online.

Did you follow the correct procedure when replacing the battery. Hopefully you haven't damaged any of the electrics. Have a read of this thread and it may help you out a bit.

took a look at that link thankyou, quite a task to change the battery ! the symtoms have been the same from the battery change so no damage from that by the looks,, will have to get my dad to check all the earths as ex machanic, as for plugs will have to check them too, wouldnt the plugs cause running problems? because the car is fine after it has started.

Possibly the aerial around the key barrel, if it's cranking but not firing, or the mutliplug has water in.

If your car is 2001 or older, I have a couple of aerials for sale.

Did you get any joy with this matter.
My gf's 206 is doing exactly the same thing as yours.
Had to get it recovered home today because it just wouldn't start at all. Would crank fine, just wouldn't fire.
Changed the coil pack last night for a new one, but problem still persists. Sometimes fire, sometimes wont.
Recovery man put a diode across the feed for the coil pack and said that there's no feed getting to it and suggested the crank sensor.
Put a diag computer on it, and said that no faults were being registered by the ecu.
Strange thing is, when we got recovered home, had to back into a space which is on a slight incline, so just for the sake of it, tried starting the car, and low and behold, she started first time. Reversed into the space, and switched off. Tried to start her again, and same problem. Cranking, but not firing.
I don't know what else to try to be honest.
Anyone?
