I think the MOT is a pain for a lot of people but for the likes of my missus its essential. She has no idea, if i dont drive the car every now and again it she would wreck it, its had flat tyres, failed wheel bearings and a snapped anti roll bar, she had no idea, just drove around the problem!
Slightly back on topic, I would hope anyone who is having a dedicated trackcar would keep it in good shape and check everything alot more often than on a road car!

exactly!!!
yea that santa dude was abit miserable, luckily when i was there he released the cars onto the track all day, took ages to realise people tho!!

Most non competitive trackdays insist that your car is road legal, and they don't allow slicks etc. Therefore, your car must have an MOT.

Not on the day (not ask to see certificate), but they'd get you to sign a declaration and in the small print, might say needs MoT or something along those lines. If there was an on-track incident, for example you simply put a wheel off the track and went into a barrier, damaged it and caused monetary damage, they might want to make further checks here. So if you'd lied or deliberately misled, they might take further action. Worth the risk?

This is getting f*****g irritating now. I have read both the Javelin and focused events paper I have and IT does NOT as for the car to be MOT'd it merely says it should be in a safe condition.
Paul, if you crash on a trackday it is tough s**t for all concerned, hence the disclaimer you sign. The trackday provider and track owner can't claim anything from you and vice versa.
YOU ARE ALLOWED ON TRACK AT THEIR DISCRETION AND YOUR OWN RISK.

You're right in this respect - I read the T&Cs too, they don't say MoT is required. HOWEVER these companies are merely a 'front end' firm who hire the tracks out as a block booking for a day or series of days. When you get to the track, you also sign the track's own disclaimer, which, if you read the small print, (and it varies from track to track) may well ask for cars on track days to be MoT'd or otherwise scrutineered safe.

Of course you don't need an mot a lot of people use a trailer, including myself
And by the way an mot is in no way saying your car is safe and up to racing standards, just look after it and check before every track day and you will be fine

I used to do loads of track days and took my car on a trailer - it had an MoT and was fully road legal. It just makes things easier having an estate car and a bunch of tools, etc available, and of course if the car breaks down its a relatively minor inconvenience, you can still get home, and it doesn't really spoil the day.

Harry has hit the nail on the head.
They state the vehicle has to be SAFE. Why would they ask for an MOT?
Having an MOT doesnt mean it is safe therefore they would leave themselves exposed if they asked for it as proof the vehicle was safe.
