Started the 206 up after it has been stood for a good few days out in the cold and it sounded like a sticking tappet, took it for a drive and the tapping noise increased with revs and seemed, either not there or much quieter when i lifted off (no sound deadening so its hard to tell which).
Once the engine oil got up to around 60-70 degrees it went off all together.
Any ideas?
The oil and filter were done about 50 miles ago and is the same 10w60 millers I used last year when it was properly cold, with no problems.

Yeah, did think that but as its usually only driven on trackdays it doesn't get driven short distances cold, but like I said, it was fine last year.
Tried searching for other possibilities but only came up with a sticky tappet or dodgy tensioner.

I'm running it due to the temps on the trackday mainly. My theory being if its sat near the red most of the time a 10w60 will maintain its viscosity better than a 40 and give it a bit more of a chance, particulary with the engine been worn already. It seems to keep the temperature down aswell.
My Cuz had a scooby and it wouldnt matter what oil you put in it, his blew up so many times it wasn't funny.
That said I wouldnt trust a scooby driver if they told me it was Sunday.

A little excessive...... Although there should be one in the coolant system so the heater is nice and warm straight away

Never gets into the red, even with the Cadwell endurance run, so, untill this tappet incident I was planning on going without.

Ouch!!
i was just thinking of keeping it warm but not too warm, cooler with a thermostat will keep it at a good temperature
i dont have a oil temp gauge, not sure what temps i am running on track
