Hi all, just got a 1.1 206 2002 lx
Few things I'd like a bit of help with please:
1. Can you get a manual adjust clutch cable because I like a low biting point and its rather high atm.
2. Brakes feel crap, pedal travel is quite far untill there is any braking and even then the brakes won't lock at all. Discs and pads look fine, bled new fluid into it and still the same. Any known reason or are all like this?
3. Car is amazingly slow and no pull at all in 2nd gear. Just driving home then i noticed it hesitating every so often when i put my foot down. Presuming fuel filter or spark plugs. I'll get round to this but though 2nd would have bit more pull.
4. What engines can be dropped into the enginebay without mount or interior loom modification? Saxo, 306 engines etc. will they fit?
Not too bad to drive, replaced rocker covr gasket and stopped blowing exhaust already. Feels very basic compared with the 307 i had before hand, that was top spec though. Any help would be great cheers

1. All cables are self adjusting they never change pedal position. Never know anyone to have a manual adjusting one. Just get used to it.
2. Have you checked the piston? maybe the seals are trashed and they are full of crap.
3. Give it a good service with Bosch plugs. All the power (what there is of it) is top end so don't expect to shift without revving the nuts off it. Fortunately its a strong engine.
4. Nothing without a lot of work, easier to sell it and buy a 1.4 or 1.6.

Thanks for reply. I've not had time to properly take a look at the brakes yet. Bled some fresh fluid in as thought that would help but hasn't
Been trying to sort an oil leak out. Hoping its just rocker cover but seems quite bad down cambelt side of the engine. Replaced gasket anyway, camshaft seal seems clean but not had a look at the crankshaft seal yet. Not dripping to much now but everything is covered.
I only asked about manual adjusting cable because the engine is identical to the saxo one I had, that had a manually adjusting cable. Clutch bearing making a slight noise so I'll replace that when I get round to it anyway

206 brake feel on right hand drive cars is s**te due to the transfer linkage under the dash
Its something you will have to put up with / get used to.
Fuel filter is inside the fuel rank & self cleaning, Peugeot state leave it alone.
Head gasket front left hand corner is favourite for oil leakage on the TU lumps.
Rocker covers are easily warped if you dont use a torque wrench resulting in oil leakage.
Save up & buy a bigger engined 206, works out cheaper in the end instead of swopping lumps in to a 1.1 shell.
Nothing wrong with the auto adjusting clutch cable when it & the clutch are working correctly, a lot of 206's the clutches are ruined by operator abuse

Ahh, wasn't sure about fuel filter, thought it was a submerged one because i couldn't see it when sorting exhaust this morning but saw a 1.1 fuel filter on ebay for a 206 so presumed i missed it
Anyway of stopping the HG leak if it is that? other than sorting the head out?
Ill get used to the clutch until i get round to replacing it, see if its any different then.
Don't own a torque wrench but I've always used the method of turning untill tight then quarter of a turn more

If the head gasket is leaking oil then its gonna need to be replaced sooner or later, they can end up leaking so much oil out it then works its way down & inside the alternator & kills it
Fuel filter - normally only changed if you ever have the tank sender unit removed, other then that Peugeot say just leave it alone.
Clutch kit = LUK, Sachs or Valeo.
Be carefull of the rocker cover bolts, the torque setting is really low & if there done up to tight the rocker cover will warp & start leaking.

i have a 1.1 03 and it leaking down the same side, its been to loads of garages and still leaks.

Just has the exact same leak fixed the other day on my TU engine as well. Exact same location! Hopefully they fixed it properly!

Did you get a full headgasket job? Really couldnt be bothered with that. How much are locking tools though?
Ill take a closer look soon n see exactly where its from
