Hello all,

Bit confused by this one... Mad Mad Mad
This is a 02, multiplexed, 206 1.4 hdi - totally standard.

I've had a search through recent similar problems to this but doesn't seem I can find anything relevant sadly.
Prior to this problem the car ran fine, with no indication of a fault or symptom. Went to jump in the car today and the car turned over fine but engine would not kick in.

I don't have tools/testers/readers on me which has left me in a bit of a pickle and had to improvise where I can.
Suspects:
Battery - seems okay. Put on EVERYTHING I could in the car and starter still turned over happily.
Fuel - There's fuel. Given the little pumpy thing a few squeezes.
High Pressure - That's mechanically driven right?
Low pressure - That's under the rear passenger seat yar? Couldn't hear it but then I don't recall hearing it ever anyway.
Some b*****d relay - don't know where they are!
Stop solenoid - couldn't see one???
Something else I haven't thought of.

I don't suppose the car fob could be something to do with, I changed keys, as in literally moved the transponder and key from one casing to another... That's all that changed?

Any help would be gratefully appreciated as always.

Cheers!

is your car pre plexed or multiplexed? If multiplexed, fuses blown in the BSI can cause it not to start too, so check there as well.

When you pumped the hand primer for the fuel in the engine bay did it go solid or noticeably harder?

When you changed the key over, did you also put the little black immobiliser chip in the new case aswell?

Sounds like another classic case. Those little things are easy to miss.

I would change the key back, sounds like the problem, does the engine light flash when the imobiliser is kicking in? Also, turn the key to the first notch, you should here the fuel pump prime.

Blade, circuit board and transponder chip needs swapping over.

Check out this thread if you missed seeing the transponder chip

Hello again,
SOLVED!
Thanks for all the responses, very much appreciated. As some of you had guessed, I tried the 2nd key early this morning and the car started without any problems - so effectively I isolated it down to the main key.

Yes, it was the transponder! I completely missed that when I changed the key and CL chip!!!11

Thanks once again,

EDIT: Should mention I think I got my terminology mixed up in the original post - I incorrectly believed the transponder was integral to the Central Locking circuit board. So I had only moved the key blade and the chip, leaving the transponder in the old casing.

I'll take the above post in jest.

Unless you're still angry about the front lights Lee? Sorry if you are.

Regards,

Adam
