I think it is a good chassis. It's enhanced by spending out on good tyres and the weitech suspension setup is great.

My main issue is getting a good one that is mechanically sound and clean as mine is. |
Why not just keep your 138 GTI & invest in a better car than a 206 in the future. |
I would tend to concur. |
As would I. |
Same here.
I'm on my second 206, and i still dont know why i got that one.
They do have perks tho.
Cheap to buy.
Cheap to replace parts on/upgrade.
Wouldnt say cheap on insurance, must be classed as a boy racer.
But it could be that all insurance has gone up stupid amounts, 5years NCB doesnt seem to mean anything to anyone.

Anyway, you can get 180's from only £1500+ if you check ebay so worth a look if you fancy upgrading. Not that expensive anymore so Im not even talking about buying a "melon"

A melon will have less ABS/Airbag Fault/Anti Pollution Faults/VVT Sensor Faults than a 180 though....therefore making it a better pound for pound buy.

I think he means, you can get a 180 for £1500 and it wont be a melon?
But yeah if you look on ebay, there is one for £1200 - needs new bumper and other bits, but come on, thats like £90's worth in 206 panel terms. Bargain.
Also BIN £1800

306 is a very good chassis BUT I dont like the passive rear wheel steering.
I much prefer the 405 chassis myself

I do like the 306 & I nearly bought a GTI 6 BUT after the test drive I just knew it wouldnt end nicely if I bought it, so I got the 405 instead.
