Filled-up completely a few days ago, gauge at max.
This morning it was at 3/4 mark having used some in the past days.

Now it's jumped back to full mark without putting more in.
The needle seems to be free to move up and down and settles below zero when engine is switched-off.

Damn it.

EDIT: Battery has had it. Goood pugy.

bad sender unit or poor earth sender units go quite often and are par of the fuel pump , easy to change but you need a drill to remove the cover

There's no rivets and steel plate on mine.

Pump is an arm and a leg for 2001 year 206.
Might try and repair it if the problem persists.

my 2002gti starts fine but im gettin this s**t with the fuel gauge?how did you finaly conclude the battery was to blame?and not a dodgy sender on the pump?

The very same day the starter wouldn't crank due to flat battery.
Replaced battery and problem dissapeared and has never come-back (see date in post).
