No not that...
Right yesterday I went to top up the oil abit, and found on the underside there was this white substance of the cap.
It had a oil change around a month ago and it was fine then, I know the normal signs are that the head gasket has gone but surely not that quickly?
Could it just be condensation due to the cold weather?
Luke.

I used to get this with the 180, its just from condensation, unless there's loads I wouldnt worry about it.

It just need a couple of decent length runs to get rid of it. Wiping it will help too.

Is there any white stuff on the coolant expansion tank cap or in the water itself? If there is its probably the head gasket. How old is the car and how many miles has it done?

It doesn't need driving hard, it just driving long enough to vent it all out.

Wife's car had the same. Only used for short runs. Nif no oil loss or coolant loss then should be okay

Yeah ok, sounds like a reasonable explanation if you've only been doing very short journeys.
